BARACK OBAMA.......

Originally known as Barack Hussein Obama was born on August 4.1941 in Honolulu,Hawaii.

Obama was the first African American to be nominated for the US Presisdential election.He graduated from Columbian University and Harvard Law School.He was practising Civil rights attorney before serving three terms in illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004.From 1992 to 2004 he was teaching constitutional law in University of Chicago Law School.In 2000 his bid was unsuccessful for a seat in U.S. House of Representative made him to announce his campaign for U.S. Senate in January 2003.In November 2004 he was elected to the Senate with 70% of vote.

2008 PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN:

• In February 10 2007,Obama announcement his candidacy for President in U.S.


• Obama's campaign raised $58 million in the first half of 2007.


• In January 2008 his campaign again fetched $36.8 million the most ever in one month by presidential candidate.


• In January 2008 he joined hands with Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire and won more delegates than Clinton.


• On June 19,Obama became the first major party Presidential canditate to turn down public financing in the general election.


• On August 2008 he selected Joe Biden as his Vice-Presidential running mate.


• On August 2008 his speech was delivered in front of 84,000 people in Denver and viewed by over 38 million people through television.

OBAMA'S GOALS:

• To withdraw American troops from Iraq.


• Energy independence.


• To decrease the influence of lobbyist.


• Promoting Universal Health care as top national proiority.
